Beer and Brewery Brand Logo and Package Design

After operating a highly successful brew pub and restaurant for ten years, Black Diamond Brewing Company, located in Concord, California, decided to expand its distribution channel to retail beer in glass bottles.

Black Diamond turned to kenCREATIVE for the package design of the line as well as production assistance for the printing segment of the project. The product line includes 12 oz. bottles of seven different ales, each packed into six-pack carriers and 24 bottle cases.

Although the primary target is 25 to 45 year old, sports-minded men, our Client felt it was important to appeal to the young female audience who are increasingly important consumers in the category.

We scripted the brand name and included pinstripes to be reminiscent of a sport team's logo and uniform and augmented the black type with different highlight colors to represent each flavor. A subtle gradation of pale ale color centers your eye on the brand name.

The six-pack mirrors the label design, and the 24-bottle case, produced in only two colors, eliminates the gradated background, allowing it to print on standard brown corrugated.
